Back at it Again

Manchester City played against Newcastle in their fourth Premier League match this season. After drawing with Wolves last weekend, City were eager to return to their winning ways.

Sterling gave City the lead in the 8th minute of the game! However, this lead was stripped away when Yedlin equalised for Newcastle in the 30th minute.

It looked as if Guardiola’s team were going to drop points again this weekend. Luckily, City persisted and in the second half Walker scored the winning goal.

Manchester City are third on the Premier League table, only two points below those above them. They impressed us last season and they are ready to do it all gain.

The Bustling Blues

Chelsea played away from home against a defensive Newcastle. With the Blues constantly on the attack, they managed to leave St James’ Park with a win for the first time since 2011.

Sarri’s squad had a whopping 81% possession, and yet failed to get a goal in the first half. Newcastle’s defence could not be broken or overcome. Arsenal could definitely learn a thing or two from them.

Chelsea still continued to put pressure on Newcastle in the second half. Jorginho completed 158 passes in the game, a new Chelsea record. That was more passes than the entire Newcastle team made put together.

The Blues finally managed to get a goal for their efforts after being awarded a controversial penalty, which Hazard converted in the 76th minute.

However, it was not long before aggressive play from Newcastle meant that Joselu scored an equaliser. Many thought the match would end a draw, but there was one more twist to come.

After an amazing strike towards goal from Alonso, Yedlin accidentally scored an own goal when trying to stop the ball! Chelsea were the ones to claim victory in the end. What a blow for the Magpies!

Chelsea have now won three PL matches and are sitting just under Liverpool, who lead the table on goal difference. They are looking very promising!

Home Run

Manchester City are completely and utterly running away with the title. In fact, they have been performing well in all competitions. At this stage, it would not be surprising if they end up winning more than one trophy at the end of the season.

Man City are sitting at the top of the table with an extremely comfortable 12-point lead. They entered the new year unbeaten in the Premier League and that continued up until their most recent game.

Liverpool was the team to finally break down the leaders, defeating them 4-3 last weekend. Although this result was helpful in raising Liverpool to third place on the Premier table, City’s position was hardly impacted due to the excessive lead they had alreadly accumulated.

This weekend, despite the resilience Newcastle, showed, Manchester City was able to defeat them 3-1 with a hat trick from Agüero. After all, it is hard to keep a compelling team down!

Manchester City are well on there way to being Premier League champions. For now, it does not seem like anyone will be able to truly slow them down.

Settled

Chelsea gained a decent result considering their poor start in their game against Newcastle. It wasn’t the result they went out for, but it’s what they had to settle for. A draw.

The first two goals came from Newcastle. Perez scored the first goal in the 42nd minute. Then, in the second half, Wijnaldum doubled it. The future was looking bleak for the Blues.

In the 79th minute Ramires scored a cancellation goal for Chelsea. This was then followed by an equaliser from Willian in the 86th. They finally let the tension loose. The fans were breathing again.

Chelsea denied Newcastle their first win of the season, however, they themselves did not take three points home. Will Chelsea soon find their way up the table?

Your Welcome

Arsenal were fortunate enough to win their game against Newcastle. Newcastle did all the work and the Gunners took all the credit.

The game was off to a bad start for the hosts, Newcastle, from an early stage in the match. Mitrovic was given a red card in the 16th minute of the game. That gave a red signal to their chances in the rest of the match!

The visitors were not able to take advantage of Newcastle’s dismay, so the home team did it for them. Coloccini netted an own goal in the 52nd minute! Arsenal was handed three points on a silver plate.

Arsenal got away with this one, but they’ll need to score goals if they wish to continue to rise. No major signing has been made in the transfer window yet, and it might just be what they need…

Held To Ransom

Manchester United ended their winning run in their game against Newcastle. The teams drew and both carried away one point.

Man United may have tamed Newcastle from scoring, as expected. However, Newcastle also managed to freeze the scoreline for United. Rooney did attempt to win for his team, but the goal was ruled offside.

Even though Manchester United held 70% possession, Newcastle put on an impressive display at Old Trafford. That one point was deemed immensely valuable for the underrated club!

Manchester United’s winning run may be over, but they still haven’t lost a match. Perhaps they won’t be missing out too much this season on Mourinho’s new signing, Pedro.

Turn Up The Heat

Liverpool had a great end to their game against Newcastle. The Hillsborough disaster was reflected on before the match began. Perhaps this motivated the Reds to lift the spirits of their fans!

Sterling fired up a celebratory reaction with his goal in the 9th minute! Liverpool had a firm lead which was untampered by a strong penalty appeal from the opposition before half time.

Allen then doubled the lead in the 70th minute. Luck was adamant in staying away from Newcastle as Sissoko even received a red card before the end of the match!

Liverpool are only four points behind top four. They’re putting pressure on Manchester City and it isn’t easing.

Alas!

No one knows what Manchester United were waiting for during the entirety of their match against Newcastle. All anyone knew was that it took a while, an extremely long while, before a goal was eventually netted.

The first half of the match came and went. No goal was in sight. No goal was heard. No goal was wispered about. United were yet to make a change in the game.

In the second half, fans were still waiting in an array of hope and worry. The stress only managed to cool in the 89th minute, when Young scored the winning goal! It was about time.

I guess it was better late than never. Manchester United are in fourth place on the Premier League table. Let’s hope they don’t leave it too late to maintain their position.

Rooney Reigns

Manchester United showed no mercy when they weakened Newcastle at Old Trafford. The Reds look like a team that are in full recovery.

Rooney scored the first goal for Man United in the 23rd minute. His Christmas spirit was then greatly displayed when he doubled the lead in the 36th!

Manchester United had their lead extended once again in the second half. Van Persie made it 3 in the 53rd minute. Newcastle, despite their leakages, were able to savage some pride. Cissé converted a penalty in the 87th minute!

United may be enjoying a Champions League position, however Newcastle can’t be sure of their destiny. This matched has proved this Premier league to be a roller coaster. There are those who go up….there are those who go down.

Fiery Peformance

Arsenal lit up their match against Newcastle. What was thought to be a difficult game for the Gunners turned into a 4-1 battering for Newcastle.

Giroud gave Arsenal the lead in the 15th minute of the match. This was the only goal in the first half. The flames were being preserved for an unforgettable finale!

Cazorla doubled the Gunners’ lead in the 54th minute. Just four minutes later, a goal was added to the scoreline as Giroud scored another goal to make it three!

It was almost becoming a bit embarassing for the Magpies. Luckily enough, Perez managed to get one back in the 63rd minute.

Despite Newcastle’s efforts, the Gunners were just too bright and too bold for them. In the 88th minute, Cazorla converted a penalty to give his team their fourth!

Arsenal have beaten Newcastle 4-1. It was just a few days ago that they defeated Galatasaray 4-1…Wow. Arsene Wenger has the fans back on his side. They were  even chanting his name. Will the drive of the fans ignite a passion in the Gunners?
