Chelsea Win the Europa League!

Chelsea became the first ever team to win the Europa League unbeaten! They defeated their London-rival, Arsenal 4-1 to claim their European trophy!

Arsenal were the better team in the first half, with Cech making some pretty good saves. However, it all went downhill for the Gunners after that.

Giroud gave Chelsea the lead against his former team in the 49th minute. Pedro then doubled the lead in the 60th.

Within five minutes, Arsenal conceded a penalty which allowed Hazard to claim his first goal of the night!

Iwobi did manage to get a goal back for the Gunners in the 69th, but it was not long before Hazard netted Chelsea’s fourth and final goal of the night.

It was an amazing win for the Blues and for Sarri, who’s way of managing the team had previously undergone much scrutiny.

However, the match was bittersweet as it was likely to be Eden Hazard’s last time playing in a Chelsea shirt. It was also Petr Cech’s last Arsenal match as he will now, ironically, be returning to Chelsea as a sporting director.

Whereas Chelsea will be heading into the next football season in the Champions League and with a trophy; Arsenal will once again be competing in the Europa League. Let’s see if they can win it next time.

Liverpool and Tottenham confirmed their place in the Champions League final earlier this week. Now, Arsenal and Chelsea are set to face each other in the Europa League final!

Arsenal had already defeated Valencia 3-1 in the first leg of their semi-final match, giving them a great advantage going into the second. The match started rough, with the Gunners conceding a goal in the 11th minute.

However, they soon turned things around. Aubameyang netted a stunning hat-trick which, along with a goal from Lacazette, secured Arsenal’s entry into the Europa League final.

Gameiro did manage to score a second goal for Valencia but it did not matter. The scoreline on aggregate was 7-3! The fantastic duo, Aubameyang and Lacazette, had done it again.

Chelsea had a much tougher time than the Gunners. They had gone into the second leg against Frankfurt only with the advantage of an away goal. Loftus-Cheek, assisted by Hazard, managed to give Chelsea the lead in the 28th minute.

However, Jovic, who had been a threat to the Blues in the first leg, posed yet another danger. He netted the equaliser in the 49th minute. The match then went to extra time but that was not enough.

The winner of the match was decided by penalties. Kepa made two brilliant saves and Hazard netted the crucial final penalty to take Chelsea through to the final. It was not easy but they made it.

History has been made! Both the Champions League trophy and the Europa League cup will be coming to England. To which clubs, we are yet to know.

Chelsea defeated Watford 3-0 to go third on the Premier League table. Loftus Cheek, David Luiz and Higuaín were all goal-scorers, taking the Blues to 71 points.

After fifth-place Arsenal failed to defeat Brighton, it became mathematically impossible for them to reach Chelsea, confirming the Blues’ spot in the Champions League next season!

Manchester United have ruled themselves out of the race for top four completely. They drew 1-1 with Huddersfield after failing to hang on to the lead given to them by McTominay in the 8th minute.

Arsenal are three points below fourth-place Tottenham and could still reach top four. However, this is almost unfeasible considering that their goal difference is eight less than that of Tottenham.

The Gunners’ only chance of competing in the Champions League next season might just be by winning the Europa League

Tottenham Risk Missing Out on Top Four

Tottenham booted Manchester City out of the Champions League. However, City got their revenge when they beat them 1-0 in the Premier League.

Spurs were now able to be overtaken by Arsenal and Chelsea if they were to win their games. Luckily for them, the Gunners were shockingly defeated 3-2 by Crystal Palace, despite having over 70% possession.

This meant that Arsenal remained one point below Tottenham and will themselves be pushed out of top four if Chelsea win their match on Monday.

Manchester United seems to be out of the race for top four completely. They suffered a 4-0 defeat against Everton, with Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Digne and Walcott each scoring a goal.

United’s next game will be against Manchester City, who are competing for the title. The likelihood that they will win that match is quite slim.

The question of who will make it into the top four might only be answered on the very last day of the Premier League season!

Liverpool Defeat Chelsea to Keep Title Hopes Alive

Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 3-1, with two goals from Sterling and one from Gabriel Jesus. This meant that Liverpool’s match against Chelsea was a “must-win” match if they wanted to return to the top of the table. Luckily, they delivered.

No goals were scored during an intense first half of the match. However, two goals were netted in the second half, both within three minutes of each other. Mané scored the first goal in the 51st minute and Salah beautifully doubled the scoreline in the 53rd!

Having played one game more, Liverpool are above second-place Manchester City by two points. City’s next PL match will be against Tottenham, a tough one. However, teams like Chelsea, who want to finish in top four, will be relying on City to win that match.

The race for first place and top four continues!

Hazard Takes Chelsea to Third

Every game has become crucial among the top six clubs. With the race for top four more intense than ever, it is a good thing that the Blues have a player like Eden Hazard to give them a helping hand.

Chelsea defeated West Ham 2-0 to rise to third place on the Premier League table. Hazard was the one to score both the fantastic goals in the 24th and 90th minute.

The future of the Belgian star still remains unknown. Despite Chelsea wanting to retain the player, it is likely that he will make a move to Real Madrid.

If Hazard does leave the club, he will undoubtedly be utterly missed. With any luck, he will help the club finish in top four or win the Europa League before making an exit.

How the Mighty Have Fallen

Manchester United have lost their first match under the management of Solskjaer after conceding two goals to Paris Saint Germain. The 2-0 defeat was suffered at home, in what was the first leg of the Champions League last 16 round.

Kimpembe netted the first goal for PSG in the 53rd minute and Mbappé doubled their lead in the 60th. United were evidently frustrated and Pogba was sent off with a second yellow card in the 89th minute.

Such a defeat came after United entered the top four on the Premier League table thanks to Chelsea suffering a disgusting 6-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Sterling started City’s run of goals in the fourth minute of the match, and scored the last goal in the 80th. Agüero happily scored a hat trick, with one of the goals being a penalty that was successfully converted in the 56th minute.

The Blues are now down to 6th place on the PL table and Sarri’s managerial position is under question. The worst part is that Chelsea will be facing off against Manchester United on Monday for the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Now that United have broken their unbeaten run, who knows if they will be able to bounce back from it. The demoralisation of the squad could help the distressed Chelsea team.

The Manchester Clubs are on the Rise

Manchester City have risen to the top of the Premier League table, overtaking Liverpool on goal difference, after defeating Arsenal 3-1. Not only did this win help them but, it also allowed Manchester United to overtake the Gunners.

Liverpool have drawn their last two Premier League matches, against Leicester and West Ham, 1-1. This has allowed a formidable Manchester City to sneak up from behind and catch up to them on points.

The crucial takeover happened when City beat Premier League giant, Arsenal. Aguero gave City the lead in the very first minute of the match! Koscielny did manage to equalise for the Gunners ten minutes later, but it was not enough.

Aguero scored two more goals in the 44th and 61st minute to claim a hat trick and a crucial win for his team. Manchester City have now joined Liverpool on 62 points, but are above them with a goal difference of 48 compared to Liverpool’s 41.

The pressure is now on the Reds to keep up with the new table leaders. No team can relate more to this pain than Arsenal. The Gunners had managed to enter the top four after Chelsea lost horribly to Bournemouth (4-0). However, after being defeated by City, the Gunners were left vulnerable.

City did a big favour for their local rivals, United, who took advantage of Arsenal’s loss to rise to fifth place on the Premier League table. In their match against Leicester, a single goal from Rashford in the 9th minute secured the all important three points for United.

Manchester City are set to face Chelsea this weekend. With both teams trying to hang on to their positions at the top of the table and in top four respectively, it will definitely be one to watch.

Tottenham Run Out of Trophy Chances

Tottenham was knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea and now Crystal Palace has kicked them out of the FA Cup. The only cup that seems to still be in reach is the Champions League trophy.

Crystal Palace defeated Spurs 2-0 to go through to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Wickham have them the lead in the 9th minute and the final goal was a penalty that was converted by Townsend in the 34th.

Chelsea also qualified for the next round after beating Sheffield Wednesday 3-0. After a penalty decision for Sheffield Wednesday was ruled out by VAR, the Blues were awarded a penalty at the other end of the pitch, which Willian netted in the 26th minute.

Teenager Hudson-Odoi then doubled their lead in the 64th minute and Willian scored yet another goal in the 83rd. The Blues seem to have bounced back remarkably well from their recent Premier League defeat against Arsenal.

In fact, Chelsea are now set to face Manchester United in the fifth round, after United defeated Arsenal 3-1 to qualify for the next stage. Ex-Arsebal player, Sanchez was one of the goal scorers.

Manchester City is also still competing for the FA Cup, after they annilated Burnley 5-0. Gabriel Jesus, Bernado Silva, De Bruyne and Aguero were all on the scoresheet along with Long who netted an own goal in the 73rd minute. Ouch.

Tottenham seem to have left many of the top teams to it, abandoning the harsh battle for trophies. At this rate, can we even be sure that they will secure their spot in top four on the Premier League table?

Chelsea Will Face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final

Yesterday, Chelsea played Tottenham in the second leg of the EFL Cup final. Tottenham had won the first leg 1-0, so it was up to the Blues to turn things around.

Kanté netted the first goal for Chelsea in the 27th minute. Hazard then put the Blues 2-0 up by half time. Sarri’s team were smooth-sailing.

However, a goal from Tottenham’s Llorente in the 50th minute put the scoreline on aggregate to 2-2. Penalties had to decide which team would be progressing to the final round.

After Eric Dier and Lucas Moura both missed a penalty for Spurs, the Blues were sent through to the final, winning the penalty shoot-out 4-2!

The absence of Kane and Dele Alli already seems to be having an impact on the Spurs squad. Their only feasible chance at a trophy this football season now seems to be the FA Cup.

Chelsea will play Manchester City in the EFL Cup final on Sunday 24th February. Without a doubt, it is going to be a very difficult match.
