The rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United could hardly be noticed in today’s Premier League match. The performance was dull and so was the match result.
Neither Liverpool nor United scored a goal during the entirety of the match. Liverpool were largely expected to win this match, however, they failed to convert their 65% possession into goals.
It was made clear that Mourinho values points above anything else, for his players merely did enough to sustain a draw. To be fair, he is expecting to meet his former club, Chelsea, over the weekend and, therefore, needs his players energised for the true storm ahead.
For Liverpool, one point is sorrowful; for United, a single point is worth cherishing. There are harder games ahead. Are they ready?
