Down With the Blues

Chelsea were the only top Premier League club to lose this weekend. Considering they were the previous Premier League Champions, you would think that they would be able to find their way past Sunderland.

Diego Costa gave the Blues an early lead, scoring in the 14th minute. However, this was later counteracted by a goal from Khazri in the 41st. The first half could have ended on a level playing field, but this wasn’t the vision that Chelsea had. Matic netted a goal for the Blues in extra time of the first half. They weren’t backing down!

Despite this, Chelsea fighting spirit did not remain with them in the second half. Borini netted a goal for Sunderland in the 67th minute, which was followed by a goal from Defoe three minutes later. This put Sunderland ahead, and it only got worse for the Blues for Terry received a red card in extra time. Nice one.

Chelsea haven’t got much, or even anything, left to fight for this season. However, it would be nice to see that they can still produce the quality that they could not long ago.
