Man United lost to Swansea in a 2-1 defeat. Ki Sung-yueng put in the first goal for Swansea in the 28th minute of the game. The swans stretched their necks to its peak until the second half when Rooney scored for Man United in the 53rd minute. To Gaal’s disappointment, glory did not rain on his team for long. Sigurdsson smashed in victory, respect and pride into the net to earn his team 3 points from their first season game!
It’s the first game so we can let this one slide. However, if Manchester United continue in this manner they will tarnish their reputation (and I think they had enough of that last season).
Gaal seems to have stolen the spotlight from Mourinho, so a game like this isn’t going to do him any favours. This is United’s first opening-day loss at home since 1972 and Swansea’s first league win at Man United. Fingers crossed that this season won’t be another season for breaking bad records.
The lesson to Gaal: the only friendly games you’ll ever get are the pre-season matches.
