Sunderland took the lead in the first half and it looked as if they’d be the one to carry the cup. Sunderland are in the relegation zone in the Premier League and many clubs, such as Wigan and Birmingham, have won the Capital One Cup (or Carling Cup as it used to be called) and have been relegated. It looked liked the same fate would face Sunderland. Although 3 goals from Man City in the second half washed away Sunderland’s chances of getting a cup. Maybe, it’s for the best, many small clubs that win it and get relegated. Will missing out on their Capital One Cup hopes deem their hopes of missing out on relegation a reality?
